Planning enforcement notices
A planning enforcement notice is a document served by the Council to:
- stop any unauthorised use of a property
- remove any buildings or structures that do not have planning permission
The notices can be challenged if they are not accurate and an appeal made to the Planning Inspectorate. If the development is still in place after the enforcement notice comes into effect, the people responsible for complying may be prosecuted. The Council will start legal action as soon as possible and may also carry out works itself to remedy the situation.
