On Saturday 24 October, ShopAppy, an online shopping platform for local businesses across the UK launched for Broxbourne-based businesses.
The website offers with a wide variety of products and services from shops in Waltham Cross, Cheshunt and Hoddesdon. Local independent businesses that have registered to the website, will have their own webpage with listings of their goods and services, enabling customers to browse, book appointments or buy products online.
The online service also gives customers extra flexibility with click and collect or home delivery options.
So far, around 30 businesses of different sectors in the Borough have signed up. This includes a number of local favourites such as Fishy Delishy, TJ's Sandwich Bar, Gems and Meadow's Florist.
As the Council and the ShopAppy team continue to work with more businesses, the number of local options for this online service is expected to grow.
Local businesses that are yet to join the platform are being encouraged to find out more about ShopAppy at www.broxbourne.gov.uk/shopappy in order to take advantage of the platform which comes complete with marketing support that is further amplified to the community through the Council’s own communications channels.
Leader of Broxbourne Borough Council, Councillor Lewis Cocking said: “The ShopAppy platform comes at a crucial time that has seen many businesses struggling with challenges posed by the COVID-19 restrictions.
“As the community continues to adapt to changing rules, having the flexibility to have a hassle-free online shopping experience whilst continuing to support our local businesses, is invaluable.”
“We’re confident that this new platform will enable many of our local shops to keep going, no matter the circumstances, and at the same time it will help safeguard the community by giving residents the option to shop online during busy or restrictive periods.”
Further to the work the Council has been doing with ShopAppy to support local businesses, it has worked to help the community enjoy their local town centres again with support from the Reopening High Streets Safely Fund. This includes the recent installation of 24 hand sanitising units across the Borough (strategically located in areas with high footfall), the rollout of extensive safety campaigns, along with the introduction of the Pavement Licence Scheme which allows businesses to have extended access to available floor space on the high street for tables and chairs to allow for better social distancing.
