BOB Awards 2025 Winners Announced

The fifth annual Borough of Broxbourne Awards took place on Thursday 6 March at the Spotlight in Hoddesdon.

The event recognises individuals and businesses that make a significant impact to the local community and was hosted by TV and radio broadcaster Jeremy Nicholas.

Many nominations for this year’s awards were received and eleven were chosen as winners:

Alan Casbard, in his own time and free of charge, Alan drives elderly and vulnerable residents to and from their appointments when they are unable to do so themselves.

Broxbourne & Sutera Twinning Association, since 2000, this association has brought people together, promoting integration and supporting local charities like Strength in Mind and Isabel Hospice.

Candice Collyer, rescues lost and injured pets, reuniting them with owners or caring for them herself. Whatever the time of day, she will attend to scan for a microchip to assist in locating the pet’s owner.

Cheshunt Animal Rescue, give unwanted pets and injured wildlife a second chance, fostering them in their own homes and finding them loving new families.

Christoforos Charity Foundation, set up by George and Areti Nicolaou after the tragic loss of their son, the foundation raises awareness of online dangers and encourages young people to spend time on fun activities outside of social media.

Joe Westmacott, Joe turned Chars FC from one team into a thriving club, giving kids of all ages the chance to play and develop. He is passionate about helping young people reach their potential.

Justin Honey-Jones, who runs Hearts for Herts, a charity that has installed over 20 defibrillators and provides lifesaving CPR training. He does all this for the community while working full-time as a paramedic.

Men’s Shed, Cedars Park, brings people together to learn new skills, make friends and to support Cedars Park. It serves an important function supporting mental health and preventing loneliness.

Steve Pilcher, raising over £30,000 for charities, especially Teens Unite. His passion for helping others has made a real impact on the local community.

Thomas Carroll MBE, for over 40 years, Thomas has dedicated his time to volunteering. From running a school chess club to raising over £20,000, his commitment to helping others is truly inspiring.

Jessica Manning, at just 19, Jessica stepped up in a crisis and provided life-saving CPR to someone in her care. A remarkable young woman who stayed calm under pressure.

The Leader of the Council, Councillor Mark Mills-Bishop said "These awards celebrate and acknowledge the contributions made by individuals from all backgrounds to the Borough and its residents. We received numerous nominations, making it a challenge to select only eleven.

The Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Sherrie McDaid said "The Borough of Broxbourne Awards aim to highlight and recognise individuals and groups in the Borough who have achieved significant success or made a special contribution to the community. We received many nominations for these awards. Every person or group nominated deserved to win, and choosing just 11 was not easy!
