The innovative Fit and Fed campaign offers fun physical activities and nutritious, healthy meals to some of society’s most vulnerable young people.
Fit and Fed, a national programme that combines free physical activities with healthy food choices, will return to the Borough of Broxbourne during the Easter holidays.
Run and organised by Broxbourne Borough Council in partnership with BeeZee bodies, B3Living, Families first and Catalyst Housing Group, the Fit and Fed sessions have been developed by the sports charity StreetGames, as a response to a growing body of research on the inequalities of hunger, isolation and inactivity during school holiday periods.
The Easter holiday Fit and Fed programme will take place in Waltham Cross at the Isabella House Nursery, from Monday 6 April to Friday 17 April, excluding Bank Holidays, between 10am-12.30pm.
The free activity sessions enable young people and their families to prepare healthy meals and learn about healthy eating, and also give participants the opportunity to take part in fun games and a range of activities.
The programme is aimed at young people aged between 8-16, in receipt of free school meals or for families who are feeling the pinch during the holidays.
