Official Opening of Grundy Park Marked with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Following the completion of major refurbishment works, Grundy Park was officially opened by the Mayor of Broxbourne, Councillor Sherrie McDaid on Friday 13 September.

The event was well attended by local councillors, representatives of Love Cheshunt and the local MP.

The park now has a stronger connection with the historic Old Pond, and features a grand new entrance into the park from Turners Hill, an elegant landscaped garden, Edwardian-style sitting areas and a picturesque cast iron gazebo at its centre.

Sports facilities at the park were also upgraded with improved Astroturf pitches, new basketball courts and improved play areas for the younger members of the community.

Leader of Broxbourne Council, Mark Mills-Bishop, said: “This beautiful park is an amazing addition to the local sites. I am sure that the local community, from families through to sports enthusiasts, will enjoy spending time here.

“This is yet another great project ticked off the Council’s checklist, and certainly one which we are all very proud of.”

The ceremony was held on the first anniversary of the Love Cheshunt group, a local business support network created to uplift local shops and promote greater customer engagement. The anniversary celebrations started ahead of the ribbon cutting ceremony, with a networking lunch held at Fishy Delishy.
