To mark this year’s National Fitness Day, the UK's largest physical activity celebration, the Council has organised various activities across the Borough for all to enjoy.
Honouring this year’s theme, ‘Your Health is for Life’, residents of all ages are being encouraged to explore all the best that the community has to offer to help towards a healthier lifestyle.
Among the many activities available, the recently refurbished Waltham Cross Playing Fields, has several pieces of state-of-the-art equipment suitable for residents of all ages. This includes an eco-friendly outdoor gym, a Yalp Sona Interactive Dance and Play Arch which is ideal for children and older residents looking for a fun way to get moving while improving memory at the same time, as well as a new multi-use games area. Sporting Aid, a physical activity and healthy lifestyle support service, offers free basketball and calisthenics sessions at the park every Wednesday.
Other activities and fitness facilities in the Borough include:
- Guided Walks programme (held at different locations)
- Active Herts (for guided health and fitness support)
- The Laura Trott Leisure Centre in Cheshunt, and the John Warner Sports Centre in Hoddesdon, both equipped with modern exercise machinery and revolutionary e-gym equipment.
- Free Learn2Ride Cycling camp at Robert Barclay Academy run by BlueCycle for ages 5-12 years. There will be two sessions per day held on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 October (please email community@broxbourne.gov.uk).
