Broxbourne Council is hosting a line-up of events for Great Big Green Week, which takes place from Saturday 8 June to Sunday 16 June 2024.
The Great Big Green Week is the United Kingdom’s biggest celebration of community action, aiming to tackle climate change and protect nature, with events and activities taking place across the country. Further details can be found at https://greatbiggreenweek.com/
In Broxbourne, the events begin on 8 June with an open day from 10am to 3pm at the Broxbourne Big Local’s allotment in Church Lane, Wormley.
At Waltham Cross Playing Fields, there is a Pedal Party from 11am to 1pm to promote cycling, being delivered in conjunction with British Cycling and the Hertfordshire Sport and Physical Activity Partnership. This event provides the first of three opportunities for residents to have their bikes checked and maintained for free, ahead of the summer.
Other events are at Wormley Community Centre on 12 June from 4.30pm to 6.30pm and 16 June from 12noon to 4pm at Barclay Park in Hoddesdon as part of the Midsummer Fun in the Park event.
Other activities during the week include a swap shop and green lunch at Rosedale Community Church, open days at the Harmony Garden in Cheshunt and at the Grow Cheshunt allotment, guided walks, litter picking and a climate café at Wormley Community Centre on Tuesday 11 June.
Unwanted goods can be donated to the Isabel Hospice on Friday 14 June with their Tonnes of Care vehicle located at the rear car park at the Broxbourne Council offices in Churchgate, Cheshunt. A full list of events can be found on the Council’s event webpage at www.broxbourne.gov.uk/events
