Broxbourne Borough Council and the Broxbourne Strategic Partnership for Skills group (BSPS) have awarded three grants to skills and training providers.
The Broxbourne Strategic Partnership for Skills (BSPS) is a local partnership of private and public community-based agencies. The focus of the partnership is skills, learning and employment for residents in Broxbourne.
The BSPS administers a fund that can provide one-off or time-limited grants towards a project which aims to increase employment opportunities, raise skills levels and address the skills gap in the Borough.
Hertford Regional College was successful in being awarded a grant to help establish a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Test Centre, which will open in May 2024. The centre will assist individuals and apprentices to enter the construction workforce within the Borough and will be critical to developing future skills in Hertfordshire. By establishing CSCS card accreditations, local people will be assisted in getting opportunities to work on construction sites.
Rebel Business School has been awarded a grant, to run an online programme for new business start-ups. Local residents will learn ways to start a business without money or debt, learn how to build a website, know how to register to be self-employed and make their own income.
MATs Consulting ‘Money Matters’ programme has also received a grant to help business owners and employees build healthier relationships around financial management and budgeting.
Cllr Lewis Cocking, Leader of Broxbourne Borough Council said:
I am delighted that the Council and the Broxbourne Strategic Partnership for Skills are investing in skills and training programmes to help different business communities within the local area.
“These grants will help to ensure that residents of Broxbourne have the skills they need to take advantage of the jobs that will soon arise from local developments and that local businesses have the right pool of people to fill those roles.
