The fourth annual Borough of Broxbourne Awards took place on Thursday 29 February at the Spotlight in Hoddesdon
The event recognises individuals and organisations that make a significant impact to the local community and was hosted by TV and radio broadcaster Jeremy Nicholas.
Many nominations for this year’s awards were received and ten were chosen as winners:
The Fairfields PTFA for their hard work and dedication raising funds for the pupils at Fairfields Primary School and Nursery.
Hoddesdon Allstars, a local group of volunteers that organise music events to raise money for local and national charities.
John Clowes, who spends his own time and money cultivating the green near his home, whilst encouraging local children to plant and care for flowers that he has given them.
Karen Street, who writes and hosts quiz nights in the Borough free of charge for many years to raise funds for good causes.
Lynn O’Bryan, who has been an active Girlguiding volunteer for 50 years, holding a variety of roles during that time.
Matthew Tregoning, the Commanding Officer for the Sea Cadets, who has developed the unit from three children to over 20 and provided them with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge to prepare them for the adult world.
Mick Coe, a volunteer local historian in Goffs Oak aiming to encourage other people to celebrate the area’s rich history.
Paula Humphreys, headteacher at the Broxbourne School, who has made a considerable difference to the lives and ambitions of 7,000 young people during her time at the school
Stewart Sykes, the driving force behind the Borough of Broxbourne Neighbourhood Watch, increasing the membership to 65% of households.
William and Doreen Crumly, who have helped to run the George Fuller Club for the Blind and Visually Impaired for over 40 years.

These awards highlight and recognise the work that people from all walks of life contribute to the Borough and its residents. We received many nominations and it was difficult to pick just ten.
