Broxbourne Borough Council is proud to announce the return of the This Girl Can Festival.
Broxbourne Borough Council, in partnership with British Canoeing, Herts Sports Partnership, and the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, is proud to announce the return of the This Girl Can Festival, a free event celebrating women's fitness and empowerment.
The festival will take place on Saturday 22 July, 12noon-4pm at the Lee Valley White Water Centre, Station Road, Waltham Cross, EN9 1AB, and will feature a range of sports and fitness activities, including canoeing, kickboxing, stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, football, rugby, inflatable fun and more. Attendees can also look forward to talks and demonstrations from inspiring female athletes and fitness experts. The event is open to women of all ages and abilities, and no prior experience is necessary to participate.
The This Girl Can Festival is part of the national This Girl Can campaign, it provides a supportive and welcoming environment for women to try new activities and meet like-minded people who share their passion for fitness and wellbeing.
In addition, the Festival is part of the build-up to the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships 2023, which will be held later this summer at the Lee Valley White Water Centre from 19-24 September. The festival provides an opportunity for women to experience the thrill of paddling on the same course as the world's top athletes, and to learn more about the sport of canoeing from expert coaches and instructors.
Councillor Dee Hart, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Health, said: "The This Girl Can Festival is a fantastic event that celebrates women's fitness and empowerment, and encourages women of all ages and abilities to try new activities and get active. We're thrilled to be partnering with British Canoeing, the Herts Sports Partnership, and the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority to bring this event to our community, and we hope that many women will come out and join us for a day of fun, fitness, and inspiration."
