Give your views on the Draft Hoddesdon Town Centre Strategy

The Hoddesdon Town Centre Strategy proposes exciting improvements to the heart of the town centre.

The Council is seeking views on the draft Hoddesdon Town Centre Strategy which proposes exciting improvements to the heart of the town centre.

The previous Town Centre Strategy was published in 2010, and saw, among other things, the reopening of the High Street to traffic which revitalised the town centre making it a great place to live, work and visit.

The new draft strategy aims to build upon the past improvements made to the town centre, exploit Hoddesdon’s strong historical heritage and further improve the accessibility of the town centre as a destination for visitors.

There are two priority projects proposed in the draft strategy:

  • Improving the look and feel of Fawkon Walk in Hoddesdon with new paving and planters to make the town centre more attractive
  • Create a welcoming gateway to the town at its southern end with improved lighting, new paving and planting, as well as improving connections to the nearby restaurants

These proposals will be funded using Section 106 contributions from nearby developments.

Members of the public can view and comment on the draft strategy via the Council’s website www.broxbourne.gov.uk/hodtc until 5 December 2022.

Alternatively, hard copies are available at Hoddesdon Library during normal opening hours, and responses may be sent in writing to: Planning Policy,
