How much harmful pollutant has Council's EV Chargers stopped?

Electric car charging points installed at the end of last year have already saved more than 9,000 grams of harmful pollutants from entering the atmosphere.

Broxbourne Council, in partnership with EB Charging, has installed electric charging points in five car parks and they have now been in use for just over two months.

On average, drivers will cover more than 13,000 miles using electricity from Broxbourne Council’s car parks.

You can find these chargers in:

  • Waltham Cross High Street
  • Taverners Way in Hoddesdon
  • Windmill Lane car park, Newnham Parade and Bishops’ College in Cheshunt

Councillor Lewis Cocking, Leader of Broxbourne Borough Council, said:

“With the country’s COVID-19 guidelines relaxed and the weather improving, it is only normal that people start to get out more. It is now easier than ever for drivers of electric cars to find charging points in the Borough of Broxbourne”.

Councillor David Holliday, Cabinet Member for the Environment said:

“I am pleased to see that the new Electric Vehicle chargers are already being well used. Petrol prices are increasing, and if people are considering purchasing an electric vehicle then Broxbourne Council wants this greener option to be viable for all.”

Alex Calnan, CEO of EB Charging, added:

“We have been thoroughly impressed with Broxbourne’s ambitious EV infrastructure programme and are pleased to see the charge points having an impact in just two months.

“Having additional charging options in place will encourage more drivers to make the switch to electric, and continue to make a real contribution to a low carbon future and clean, healthy air for all.”

Phase two of Broxbourne Council’s electric charging plan will see work start on charging points in four more car parks in the coming months.
