Protecting Town Centres and Employment sites across the borough

Broxbourne Borough Council is taking steps to protect the vibrancy of its town centres and safeguard local employment sites across the Borough.

These steps will reduce the risk of shops and business premises being converted to housing without the need for planning permission.  Once introduced planning permission will be required for this type of development in the following locations:

  • Old Pond District centre, Cheshunt
  • Hoddesdon Town Centre, Hoddesdon
  • Waltham Cross Town centre, Waltham Cross
  • Cheshunt Business Park, Delamare Road and Fieldings Road, Cheshunt
  • Waltham Cross Business Park, Britannia Road to Lea Road, Waltham Cross
  • Hoddesdon Business Park, Essex Road, Hoddesdon.

A consultation on the proposals is taking place until 5pm on 10 January 2022.

Details of the proposals, including maps of the affected areas and guidance on making comments, can be viewed online at www.broxbourne.gov.uk/consultations.

Following the consultation, the measures are expected to come into force on 16 November 2022.
