Broxbourne Council retains its Green Flags in National Green Flag Awards 2021

Broxbourne Council is delighted to announce that six of the Borough’s parks will continue to fly the Green Flag this year, as award-winning green spaces.

It has been announced by Keep Britain Tidy, who run the national Green Flag award scheme that recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country that Green Flag status has been retained this year by Cheshunt Park, Cedars Park, Cheshunt Cemetery, Barclay Park, Old Highway Recreation Ground and Top Field and Cozens Grove Local Nature Reserve.

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the open space is well maintained, has excellent facilities and is kept to the highest possible standards.

The Borough’s parks and open spaces have played a vital role throughout the past 18 months, allowing members of the public a place to relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely through lockdowns. The Council retaining its Green Flag Awards is testament to the hard work and dedication of the teams that make the green spaces a place for everyone to enjoy.

Councillor David Holliday, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “I am absolutely delighted that six of our green spaces have retained this wonderful status, which is a testament to the many staff, volunteers and community groups, who have worked so tirelessly during the most challenging of years to maintain the high standards demanded by the national Green Flag award scheme to achieve this benchmark.

I cannot thank all our volunteers and Friends Groups enough for their dedication to the community.”
