Fit and Fed, a national programme that combines free physical activities with healthy food choices, is returning to Broxbourne during the Easter holidays.
Run by Broxbourne Borough Council in partnership with the Herts Sports Partnership, Herts Community Foundation, Herts Catering, B3Living, Families First, and Catalyst Housing Group, the Fit and Fed sessions have been inspired by the sports charity StreetGames, as a response to a growing body of research on the inequalities of hunger, isolation, and inactivity during school holiday periods.
Thanks to funding from the HAPpy Activity Programme fund, Broxbourne Borough Council are now able to run the programme in a number of areas, including:
- Waltham Cross at the Holdbrook Community Hub from Monday 29 March to Friday 9 April, (excluding Bank Holidays), 9am-1pm, 8-16 year olds
- Cheshunt at the Laura Trott Leisure Centre from Tuesday 6 April to Friday 9 April, 9am-1pm and 1.30pm–5.30pm, 8-16 year olds
- West Cheshunt at the Cheshunt Park Golf Centre from Monday 29 March to 1 April, 1.30pm–5.30pm, 8–16 year olds
- Hoddesdon at the John Warner Sports Centre from Monday 29 to Friday 9 April (excluding Bank Holidays), 9am-1pm and 1.30pm–5.30pm, 5–12 year olds.
The free activity sessions will provide young people with a free nutritious lunch and also give participants the opportunity to take part in enriching games and a range of activities including nerf wars, football, frisbee, dodgeball, tennis, rounder and plenty of playground games.
