The Borough of Broxbourne placed into Tier 3: Very High Alert

Statement from Councillor Lewis Cocking, Leader of Broxbourne Council

“The Government has announced that from 00:01 on Wednesday 16 December, the Borough of Broxbourne, along with three other Hertfordshire districts, has been placed in Tier3: Very High Alert.

“The government has taken this decision in response to the significant increase in case numbers in the Borough and due to the proximity of the district to north London and Essex where infection rates have also been growing significantly.

“We appreciate that is not what people would have wanted to hear at this time and this is disappointing news for us all.

“We need to be extra vigilant in our everyday activities in order to bring the rates down, particularly as we all plan for how we will follow the rules over the Christmas and New Year period including, the ‘Christmas bubble’ guidance.

“The roll-out of the vaccine, whilst promising, is not the answer to the immediate problem. We must all keep playing our part to help reduce the number of cases in the Borough, so we can get back to the type of lives we enjoyed before the pandemic”.
