Before you apply for an Animal Activities licence, you must have the following written procedures in place:
- feeding and cleaning regimes
- transportation plans for live animals
- disease prevention
- ensuring the health and welfare of the animals
- dealing with the death or escape of an animal (including the storage of dead animals)
- caring for the animals if there is a suspension of the licence, or during and following an emergency
- a written emergency plan that is acceptable to the local authority - and followed by everyone on the premises
- dealing with a fire or a breakdown of essential heating, ventilation or filtration systems
- dealing with the removal of animals should the premises become uninhabitable - and an emergency telephone list that includes the fire service and police
- dealing with emergencies, including extremes of temperature and weather conditions (both hot and cold)
