Celebration events across the borough
To mark 70 years of the HM Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, the Platinum Jubilee will take place in 2022. Broxbourne Borough Council has been working with partners to produce a programme of local celebrations that the whole community can engage in.
- Jubilations and Coronations, Lowewood Museum, Saturday 30 April to Saturday 18 June
The Lowewood Museum Trust will produce and host an exhibition entitled ‘Jubilees and Coronations’, drawing upon their photographic collection and archives. Additional activities will take place during the Jubilee weekend including craft activities for children. Residents are invited to share their memories of past celebrations and royal visits by emailing info@lowewoodmuseum.org.uk or dropping them into the museum which is open Friday and Saturday from 10am to 4.30pm.
- Platinum Jubilee Beacons, various locations, Thursday 2 June
There is a long and unbroken tradition in this country of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of beacons. On the evening of Thursday 2 June 2022 at 9.45pm, beacons will be lit across the nation and the Commonwealth to mark her majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. Beacons will be lit within the Borough by local dignitaries at Hoddesdon Town Centre by the Jubilee Shelter (in partnership with the Love Hoddesdon Business Improvement District), Wormley Community Centre (in partnership with Wormley and Turnford Big Local) and the Lee Valley White Water Centre in Waltham Cross.
