More information
To make a complaint about any of the following, please fill in the form on the What Can You Do page.
Pest Control
Owners and Occupiers have a responsibility to keep their land free from rats and mice. If you rent from a Housing Association or a private landlord, speak to them about any pest control issues and subsequent treatment in the first instance.
If you have already reported this issue to your Landlord or Housing association and have not received a response within 7 days please use the form to report your issue.
You can make a pest complaint if the issue is causing:
- a statutory nuisance
- a public health issue
- an attraction of vermin to the area. For example, because of food waste or soft furnishings
- you live in a rented property and your Landlord is failing to carry out treatment
- you live in a Housing Association property, and they are failing to carry out treatment
Please note that we will be unable to investigate a complaint if you have not informed your Landlord or Housing association first.
Noise Complaints
For information about which noise complaints Councils can deal with, and what they can do about it, visit gov.uk/guidance/noise-nuisances-how-councils-deal-with-complaints.
Once the Council has received a noise complaint, a case officer will contact the resident within ten working days to provide more information.
Bonfires
Broxbourne Council does not recommend bonfires in any circumstance. You can be fined if smoke drifts onto roads, action can be taken against nuisance odours, and all fires have a risk of spreading and causing a danger to life.
For the Council’s green waste collection service, visit broxbourne.gov.uk/greenwaste. Surplus rubbish can also be taken free of charge to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) at Pindar Road, Hoddesdon and at Fairways, Brookfield Farm Turnford.
