What you can do
The Cemeteries team is able to assist you with your funeral arrangements, providing advice about the process and explaining your options. You can call the team on 01992 785507 or attend one of the weekly drop in surgeries held at each cemetery on the following days and times (appointment not necessary for the drop-in surgeries):
- Hoddesdon Cemetery: Tuesday 9am-10.30am
- Cheshunt Cemetery: Thursday 9am-10.30am
The Cemeteries Officer will assist you with your funeral arrangements, providing advice about the process, and explaining your options.
The Council does not hold cremations, but will provide a final resting place for the cremated remains. This includes scattering, strewing, urn burial and columbarium. Please speak to the Cemeteries team to arrange a cremated remains interment.
Funeral Directors are available to assist you and your family when arranging a funeral and answer any questions you may have.

Burial applications are normally made to us by funeral directors as they can help make the necessary arrangements. If you are making your own arrangements, please contact the Cemeteries Team on 01992 785507 for further advice.
We require all appropriate documents before we can confirm a booking. Due to other burials and maintenance work that is carried out within the cemeteries it may not always be possible to have the date and time you wish.
Burials can take place in purchased grave plots on instruction from the owner of the Exclusive right of burial. If you do not currently own a plot, please contact the Cemeteries Team on 01992 785507 to make an appointment to choose a plot, or attend one of the drop-in surgery sessions listed above.
Conditions and fees are listed in Borough of Broxbourne cemetery conditions and fees.
