Borough of Broxbourne resident
If the deceased is a resident, all fees will be at the resident rate.
If the deceased is a non-resident, but the purchaser is a resident, the purchase (plus conventional fee if appropriate) will be at resident rate, but the interment fee will be at non-resident rate.
Deceased non–residents who moved out of the Borough within the last 10 years are entitled to claim resident fees upon the provision of suitable proof/evidence of Borough residency for that period. The non-resident fee may be initially payable at the time of interment, but if acceptable proof/evidence of residency is provided at a later date, the Council will refund the difference in fees.
Residents who moved from the Borough directly into a hospital or a registered nursing home, or to live with relatives for care purposes, will be considered as residents for the purpose of fees. This is subject to a confirmation letter from a:
- doctor
- nurse
- care assistant
- solicitor
Hoddesdon Cemetery
If the deceased did not reside in the Borough within 10 years of the date of death may not be interred in the cemetery unless they purchased a grave whilst residing in the Borough. However, a resident of the Borough may purchase a grave upon the death of their:
- mother
- father
- son
- daughter
- brother
- sister
If the above are non-residents, the interment fees will be charged in accordance with Council's residency policy.
Still-born child or non-viable foetus
Fees will be determined by the residency of either or both parents. Interment fees are currently waived for residents.
Current residency of the Borough
Fees will be determined in each case by inclusion in the Register of Electors or Council Tax payments.
Interment in a common grave
Interment fee only will apply.
Half-space graves
Maximum coffin length is 3ft 9in (114cm). Maximum coffin width is 1ft 9in (53cm).
